Telemetry filesGetting your sessions into the app
Where does iRacing keep its telemetry files?
In Documents \ iRacing \ telemetry, as .ibt files. iRacing
only saves them while telemetry recording is switched on: press Alt+L in
iRacing (you don't need to be in the car) and an icon appears on screen. From then on, every time
you get in the car iRacing saves a new file. If the folder is empty, recording was off: press
Alt+L before your next session.
Which file do I load?
Each file's name starts with the car and the track, then the date and time you got in the
car, so the newest file is the session you've just driven. Press Load IBT
at the top right of the app and pick it, or drag it onto the window.
What counts as a clean lap?
A complete lap with no spin, no off, no trip through the pits and a sensible time. The app
leaves out out-laps, in-laps, pit laps, laps with an incident and anything well off your pace
before it analyses anything, so your coaching is never skewed by a lap that got away.
Why does it need two clean laps, and five for the setup?
Almost everything the app tells you is about consistency: how much your brake point or apex
speed moves from lap to lap. That needs at least two clean laps. Setup changes need more to go
on: with 3 or 4 clean laps the bigger changes are marked PROVISIONAL,
and with fewer than 3 they're held back. Five clean laps gives the full read.

Does my telemetry leave my PC?
No. Your telemetry files and setup files are analysed on your own PC and never uploaded. To
write your coaching, a short summary of the session (lap times, scores and figures for each
corner) is sent to our server and turned into plain English. When you type about the car and
press Send, your words go too, with the car's setting names and values so they can be matched to
your car. The map background on the Telemetry tab is downloaded like any online map. The
Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is sent.
Where are my settings and session history kept?
On your PC, in the AB Racing Line folder inside your Windows
AppData\Roaming folder: your settings and your history of sessions, plans and
requests. Nothing in it is uploaded.
The appRunning the app
Does it work offline?
Mostly. The app needs an internet connection when it starts, to check your subscription;
without one it says so and closes. Once it's running, the analysis, the setup, Telemetry, Race
Strategy, the Live Pit Wall and the overlays all work on your PC. Only your engineer's coaching,
reading your typed words, and the map background on the Telemetry tab need the connection.
Can I use it on two PCs?
On one PC at a time. Open it on another PC and it tells you your licence is on a different
PC, with a button to move it to the one you're on: one click, no sign-in needed. The other PC asks
the same the next time you open it there. More in
Account, subscription and PCs.
How do updates work?
When a new version is out, the app tells you when it starts, downloads it, installs it and
restarts itself. You only ever download the installer once. What changed is in
Settings → Help → Release notes.
Windows warned me about the installer, or removed the app. Is it safe?
Yes, and it's a false alarm. The app is new and isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may show a
blue "Windows protected your PC" box: click More info, then
Run anyway. If Windows Security ever removes the app, your
account page shows how to get it back in a few clicks.
Which cars and tracks does it work with?
Any car and any track in iRacing. The deepest, car-specific setup advice comes from the cars
we've built detailed profiles for, and that list keeps growing, but every car gets setup advice
worked out from your telemetry, and full driving coaching.
Do I need to set anything up in iRacing?
Only telemetry recording, so iRacing saves your sessions: press Alt+L.
There's no plugin to install. For the Live Pit Wall and the overlays, the app reads iRacing live
while you drive: just have iRacing running on the same PC.
Quick fixesWhen something looks wrong
A few problems look worse than they are, and each has a ten-second fix. The app keeps the current list under Settings → Help → Quick fixes, so it's always up to date with the version you're running.
The overlays disappear in the garage, the menus or a replay
That's on purpose: they only show while you're in the car, pit road included, so the fuel
call is never hidden when it matters. Sit in the car and they come straight back. To see them
while you arrange them, turn on Move/Resize on the AB Overlays tab.
The overlays didn't appear after an update
Close the app and open it again: they come back and stay. It only happens on the first
launch after an update or a fresh install.
All the overlays vanished at once while driving
You've probably pressed your show/hide hotkey: press it again. You can see or clear the
hotkey on the AB Overlays tab.
An overlay in OBS is blank, black or frozen
Right-click the source in OBS and choose Refresh; if that doesn't do it,
close OBS and open it again. Start AB Racing Line before OBS, so the sources have something to
fetch. If a source shows the overlay but no telemetry, open
http://127.0.0.1:8722 in a browser: it shows whether telemetry is arriving and
which sources OBS is reading. A stretched overlay is OBS's own scaling: right-click the source,
Transform → Reset Transform. More in the tutorial
Put your overlays on stream.
My coaching didn't arrive
It needs an internet connection and usually arrives 10 to 20 seconds after the file loads.
If it doesn't, the app says why, and Try again asks again.
